Publication by DigiTimes disclosed that Apple is currently working on a new iPhone model with a 5.8-inch OLED screen technology. Speculative stories as regards OLED-screened iPhone models availability has been circulating. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that, the move could be as far away as 2019, but this latest report is says that Apple could possibly launch a larger 5.8-inch iPhone model with OLED display as soon as 2017 or 2018.
The source says something about the previous belief that Apple would employ the manufacturing services of Samsung, LG, and Japan Display to provide the company with enough panels to confidently produce the kind of numbers of iPhones that they desire. This initial partnership would apparently see Apple using Samsung as the main supplier of OLED panels, before steadily allowing LG and Japan Display to filter into the process further down the line.
On March 21st, Apple is expected to declare the introduction of the iPhone SE, which will be a 4-inch device with internal specs of iPhone 6s. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are expected to follow on later in the year, marking the official public introduction of iOS 10, and if these rumors turn out to be true, then that device could potentially be the last major iPhone update to ship with a LCD panel built-in.
